“For many staff members, daily work routines are becoming increasingly flexible and mobile – rigid office hours and work at the desktop PC are old news. In addition, more and more companies are replacing inflexible project plans with agile project management. These developments result in new opportunities and major challenges for companies. Central questions include: How can staff members access important documents anywhere they are? How can teams work on joint tasks together across divisions and/or locations? How can all the information concerning a project, for example, timelines, memos and contact data, be organized and retrieved centrally?
Modern collaboration tools are indispensable to meet these organizational and technological requirements. In a survey for the study titled Arbeitsplatz der Zukunft 2017 (Workplace of the Future 2017) conducted by IDG Research Services, the 536 respondents stated that phone and video conferences and work grouping tools were their current collaboration tools of choice. In addition, the results of the study show that the largest demand for the respective software solutions is for collaborative reviewing and self-help. Tools for collaborative reviewing enable staff members to edit documents simultaneously and take the traditional file-sharing functions to a new level. Self-help solutions can be used to work independently outside the office and without official support. In addition, the 444 employees who were interviewed stated the necessity of a service management tool for communications between their IT department and the staff …“
